ok--
here's the deal...

dreamgirls was the #1 record in the US with Billboard scan of 60064 sold this week.

lcd record 1 (the old record) sold a total of 60559 in the US since it was released.

meaning, straight up, if everyone who bought the first record bought s.o.s. the week it's released, then we're totally #1.

i'm sure some people who bought the old record have now moved on to extreme noise or something, but maybe there are enough new people to make up for it!

anyway, it's a dream, and i'll be able to move on to my other life as a mailman after that, because it would be all downhill from there for me.

Okay, lets say that SOS is the #1 album that week...

You'd automatically have to do a third one, right?

Just like if/when the tour sells out, you'll do another...right?

---

FYI: I'll totally sing "And I Am Telling You..." as a promo for SOS in a YouTube clip if you'd like...

You could do another bonus cd but this time fill it with extreme noise. Seriously I'd love to see your take on the genre. Move over Merzbow, here's Murphbow!

Actually, I went backwards. Noise Arrow LCD.

I'd buy because I'd have to and also to prevent you from turning into a mailman, James. The last thing I need is more mailmen to deliver important mail to the wrong address only to have it sent back and probably never to be seen again.

Nada, darling.

I'm assuming the mailman liked it so much that he wanted to keep it for himself or there's something more sinister at work...

I'm not mad at ya. I'm just pretty pissed off at the postal service. Evil or Very Mad

I know!

But, back to the topic at hand: we should totally make LCD number one. Totally.

That had a movie behind it. Commercials, remakes of classic songs, movie stars, ...

The sum total sales of the first record just beat the opening week's sales of that album.

I really hope the next record charts. Just getting it in the charts would be really cool. That is something in itself. Its not like you're competing with other music its more like competing against toilet paper and toothpaste sales.

At least Diana Ross isn't going to end up sueing you.

As always, let us know so we can help out.

ha ha ha! toothpaste always wins, mate.

it's starting to look like an 80's underdag-beats-rich-guy-in-race movie, you know where the nerds make a frankenstein speedboat out of car parts, science projects and a refrigerator and wind up beating biff in the regatta de blanc or whatever.

in moveis the trampled broke-ass dorks always win. in real life, however, it seems like biff hires a bunch of ex-college radio dj's at a pittance and drowns the competition in vague confusion.

The problem is that people logged here are not only american...

I really think you can't turn SOS into the album #1 only by promoting here.
And do you know who will release an album on the same date or week?

Hope for you The Rolling Stones would be off. Very Happy

And why exactly this idea of being #1, i didn't catch perfectly the sense of this request Confused

From what I understand, it's to prove a point about the nosedive the music industry has taken and just to amuse ourselves to see LCD at Number One on the charts. If LCD could sell as many copies of SOS in the first week of its release as the first album has sold since it has been released (60,559 copies), it would chart at the top.
